Saltlover is a member of the Chenopodiaceae (Goosefoot) family. It has stems with red stripes and spine-tipped leaves. The plants are bristly at maturity. Saltlover is shaped like a pyramid and turns red in late summer. It has been known to poison livestock when eaten in large quantities during times when alternate food is scarce.
